Hi, it’s not my normal week for a newsletter, but I have some news! Next week, I’ll be moving this newsletter to a new platform, one that will combine my website with my newsletter-sending habit. For once, Hungry Woodworker will be connected all together in one place!
I have a few reasons for moving. Partly it’s due to my concern about Substack’s policies. But it’s also because continuing to keep my website and newsletter on separate platforms doesn’t make financial sense.
I’m deeply grateful to those of you who pay for a subscription because it supports my woodworking business and helps me pay for Hungry Woodworker’s online existence. However, even if you’re not a paying subscriber, I’m also appreciative of you! There are many other things you could be doing with your time. I write because I love it, because it helps me pause and reflect, and because it’s a connection with people like you in what would otherwise be a much more solitary existence.
So thank you for being here.
What does this mean for you?
I hope you’ll come with me! If you want to stay subscribed, you shouldn’t have to change anything to continue receiving my essays every other Thursday.
However, if you’d prefer, you can unsubscribe this week. I will be importing all subscriber contact info over to the new platform next week before I send out my regular newsletter.
Questions?
Happy to answer them, though I’m not very technical and any such questions might get only specious responses. I’ll do my best.
Note: I don’t want to debate the merits or demerits of different platforms and their policies or algorithms or what have you. In general, I don’t participate in such online discourse (hence, why I’m not on social media). The world has enough rancor and I feel no need to contribute.
Thank you for spending a few minutes every fortnight with me to think about woodworking. And living. And finding purpose through work and relationships.
